Catania have swooped to sign Romanian international attacking midfielder Nicolae Dica.
The Sicilians had been tracking the Steaua Bucharest star for months thanks to Walter Zenga’s connections in Romania, where he led three Bucharest sides.
And Steaua’s President Gigi Becali has confirmed that a deal has been done this afternoon.
“Dica will be going to Catania – the transfer is complete,” he told Mediafax.
“We have sold him for £1.6m and the player will have a contract of around £270,000 per season.
“Next Saturday Dica won’t join his teammates at our pre-season get-together in Austria – he will go to Catania to complete a medical and sign the contract.”
Dica, who has 28 Romania caps, played 124 games for Steaua and scored 54 goals.
