It is believed that on the 1st of November 1897, a group of schoolboys sitting on a bench on the Corso Re Umberto decided to form a sports club with the aspiration to play football. This club was called Juventus.

Initially, the club’s players sported a pink jersey, and made an introduction in the Italian championship in the same fashion. However, it would be 1903 that would see them sport the legendary black and white colours that the club are so widely known for. Two years later, the Bianconeri would win their first Scudetto after battling it out with Genoa and Milan.

After surviving World War I, the club was taken over by Edoardo Agnelli, who invested large amounts of money that led to the capture of their second Scudetto patch in 1926. Then came the early 30’s where la Vecchia Signora was unbeatable, capturing five consecutive league titles from 1931-35.

Following the survival of another World War, la Fidanzata d’Italia won the championship in 1951, and topped it with another the subsequent year. 1958 saw the club clinch the coveted golden star, given to clubs upon completion of ten championship wins.

Continuing their strong performances, 1985 saw them win their first European Cup title in a game that will always be remembered as the Heysel Disaster, which left 39 people dead, and over 500 injured. The game went on as planned, and Juve won the match with the winning goal scored by the legendary Michel Platini himself.

In recent times, the club saw themselves relegated to Serie B after being found guilty in a match fixing scandal. This also saw them being stripped off two scudetti won under the Capello reign. However, they won promotion and were back in the Serie A the following season.

Currently, Juve sit at a comfortable 2nd place on the Serie A, and are looking strong in the Italian top flight, as well as in international competitions.

Over the long course if its history, the club can boast some legendary names. Alessandro Del Piero being the latest addition to that list. He is currently the top goal scorer, as well as the most capped player.

The club has had many honours and is the most successful team in the history of Italian football.
