The Germans booked a place in the final of the European Championship in Sweden after a lone goal by their captain, Andreas Beck.
The Azzurrini began very well, and created a number of chances. However, the end result did not reach fruition, as they hit the woodwork on more than one occasion. But the boys from the peninsula were on top for most of the first half.
As soon as the play resumed, Andreas Beck hit a low shot that beat Andrea Consigli. These appeared to have rattled the Italians, as they had set the pace and were in control for most part of the game until that point. The designated visitors took advantage of the dip in morale and took the game by the horns. But the Italian youth fought back had creating a few chances, but again, the goal never came. Germany went on set up a clash with the English U-21 team in a bid to win the competition.
