Melo Extends Contract

Felipe Melo has extended his contract with Fiorentina, and will now be a part of the Viola until 2013.

The contract was previously until 2012, and it was believed that several top clubs around Europe has shown an interest in signing the Brazil international. However, all speculation has been put to rest by the fact that the player signing a contract that extends his stay at the Stadio Artemio Franchi by another year.

The Gigliati are said to have included a rescission clause in the contract, believed to be around the €20 million mark. Various reports in the press indicate that the club is trying to include a rescission clause in the contracts of all its players.
