David Beckham has said that he imagines another loan deal before the World Cup in order to keep himself under Fabio Capello’s radar.
The former Manchester United player was loaned out to Milan during the MLS off-season, which stretched into the early stages of the LA Galaxy campaign this season. The 34-year-old player envisioned a similar situation next year.
“Leading up to the World Cup, the England manager [Capello] has made it very clear to me that I need to be playing at a European level,” said Beckham to the reporters before the game against the New York Red Bulls.
“So I will do everything possible. I’ll always regret it if I didn’t do everything and to give myself a chance to be involved in that [World Cup].”
‘Golden Balls’ further said that at the moment, his priority is the rest of the season with the American club. He concluded by reiterating that he would like to represent England in the World Cup.
The loan deal with Milan was one filled with controversy, as it sparked a row between the Englishman and the creative force in the American national team, Landon Donovan, who had previously questioned his commitment to the club.
Although the Donovan as well as ‘Becks’ are said to have buried the hatchet, this bit of news may not be easy to digest for fans of the Galaxy. However, Milanese fans may cast a curious eye towards their new coach Leonardo, who may not necessarily welcome him the way Carlo Ancelotti did during his time with the Serie A giants.
