Lucio was rumoured to be on the move to either Premier League giants Chelsea, or the cash cows Manchester City. But Inter have done extremely well to bring the Brazil captain to the peninsula. This move has been confirmed on the official website Bayern Munich.
“After a trophy-laden five-year spell at Bayern, Brazil captain Lucio is leaving Munich to join Italian champions Inter.
“On Thursday, the centre-half and the FCB board of directors agreed to cancel the player’s contract ahead of its scheduled expiry on 30 June 2010.”
The 31-year-old has been sold for an undisclosed amount to the Nerazzurri, and will sign a three year contract which will keep him at the Giuseppe Meazza until 2012.
Lucio transferred to Bayern from rivals Bayer Leverkusen five years ago. Since then, the ‘FC Hollywood’ defender made over a hundred appearances for the club. He was part of the league and cup double-winning sides in 2005, 2006 and 2008.
