Italy and Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino could not hide his joy after scoring the equaliser against the Republic of Ireland, which ensured la Nazionale qualified to the World Cup in South Africa.
The Viola’s hitman has been in fine form and he took this opportunity to express his happiness about qualifying and scoring his 13th goal for the national team.
Gilardino told il Corriere dello Sport that the Italian attack is not lacking even if the team found difficulty scoring goals in recent times. He also stressed that the team’s form will keep improving, as the experienced players are helping the newly selected ones to settle in well with the team.
The former Milan player is likely to start in the last qualification match against Cyprus, after coming on in the second-half against Ireland.
