Juventus talisman Alessandro Del Piero is closing in on a return to full duty after recovering from injury, and is said to be working hard to regain full fitness.

According to il Corriere dello Sport, the Bianconeri legend could feature against Atalanta given the injuries and suspensions that manager Ciro Ferrara has to deal with.

Vincenzo Iaquinta is still out injured, while Amauri is suspended after his late red card against Napoli. This leaves only Frenchman David Trezeguet as a recognised forward with young prodigy Sebastian Giovinco, who is likely to be sidelined owing to injury.

Del Piero’s return could be timely given the circumstances, since the Old Lady has dropped some precious points in recent games, and a calming influence and an experienced head could certainly help the team’s approach.
