serie-b-logoThe fixtures over the weekend will be highlighted by the clash between league leaders Lecce and high-flying Padova. Last time out, Lecce were able to return from Turin unscathed following a relatively satisfying 2-2 draw fifth place Torino.

The Salentini will face a stern test from fourth place Padova, but considering Lecce has the strongest offence in Serie B, it will be hard to bet against the leaders finding the back of the net. What makes the top club even more impressive is the fact the attacking line is balanced and led by no less than three players who have scored at least five goals this season, namely Baclet, Corvia and Marilungo. These three players have been instrumental in the club’s climb to the top of the table. The tifosi will be expecting some fireworks since Padova are a mere two points behind in the standings.

The majority of the other top teams will be facing mediocre to weak sides with Torino expected to bring back full points from the trip to struggling Piacenza while Empoli should not have problems scoring against bottom dwellers Salernitana. Former league leaders Ancona will be hoping to recover when mid-table side Vicenza pays a visit. Last week Ancona suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat at Crotone.

Third place Cesena will travel to Mantova to clash with a club that has already lost four times at home. The Cavalluccio Marino have the best defence in the division, having conceded only six goals so far. But the offense has yet to fire on all cylinders as they have scored the fewest amongst the top eight teams. Cesena’s players have only managed to find the back of the net on 16 occasions.

The following is a complete list of the fixtures:

Ancona-Vicenza
Frosinone-Brescia
Lecce-Padova
Modena-Crotone
Reggina-Sassuolo
Triestina-Ascoli
Cittadella-Gallipoli
Mantova-Cesena
Piacenza-Torino
Salernitana-Empoli
Grosseto-Albinoleffe
