Rumours continue to gather momentum about Luca Toni’s potential return to the Italian league come January. The Bayern Munich striker has struggled this season with injuries and is said to be lacking the support of his current coaching staff.
Toni wants to be part of Italy’s quest in the South African adventure, so he is unlikely to accept a fringe role with the German club. Reports have previously linked the striker with both Milan and Napoli. Lately the player has been linked with a move to Roma due to his contacts with Giallorossi talisman Francesco Totti and their solid friendship. The towering forward admitted to Novantesimo.it that he has been in touch with ‘Er Pupone’.
Toni was frozen out earlier in the season by coach Louis van Gaal, while he has also missed out on all of Italy’s recent matches as he continues to be overlooked by Azzurri coach Marcello Lippi.
