Parma sprung a surprise at the Stadio Artemio Franchi to register a memorable 3-2 victory against Fiorentina. Alberto Gilardino opened the scoring, but the game was back on terms when Nicola Amoruso found the back of the net. The Crociati managed to take the lead in the second-half, when Valeri Bojinov beat the offside trap to volley the ball home. ‘Gila’ struck again to put the game back in the balance, but a sensational counterattack saw Davide Lanzafame score the winner for the travellers. Following the victory, the Ducali leapfrogged the hosts to land in fifth place, and are within touching distance of a Champions League spot.
Elsewhere at the San Siro, Milan were made to toil long and hard to earn the three points, as an epic battle saw the hosts eventually winning 4-3 against a determined Cagliari who went down fighting. Clarence Seedorf and Alessandro Matri sent in early goals that signalled the intent of both sides. After the initial stages, the visitors surprisingly began to dominate Leonardo’s men due to their free flowing attacking football, and deservedly went up a goal when Andrea Lazzari found himself unmarked, to send an angled drive into the back of the net. But the Rossoneri somehow managed to get back into the game and eventually took the lead after Marco Borriello, Alexandre Pato, and Ronaldinho got onto the score sheet. Nene had come on as a substitute, but it was only a matter of minutes before he was played onside by Kakha Kaladze, and scored from close range to put the game back on the boil. But the Diavoli held on to rake in all three points and continue their positive run.
