The English press were claiming that the Chelsea management was seeking to take advantage of the temporary lift on the transfer embargo imposed on the club to sign some players during the January transfer window.
One player reportedly on the English club’s radar is Napoli’s Marek Hamsik. The Slovakia international has already scored seven goals in the Serie A this season, and has generated interest among several of Italy’s and Europe’s biggest clubs.
The Azzurri sporting director Riccardo Bigon denied any reports linking Hamsik with a move to the west London club in January, or any other club for that matter. Bigon mentioned to Sky Sport Italia that the player will remain with the Partenopei for the rest of the season.
The director stressed that there have not been any contacts with Chelsea or other sides in relation to Hamsik’s future.
