Milan survived a scare in Switzerland, where they managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Zurich and qualify for the knock-out round in the Champions League.
The hosts took the lead after 30 minutes, when Milan Gajic scored through a free-kick to sensationally give his side a shock lead against the European powerhouse.
The Swiss side battled away and protected their lead superbly, until a moment of madness caused a crucial turn of events that saw the Italians draw level. Clarence Seedorf had sent Marco Borriello through on goal, but a tackle from Alain Rochat saw the man in charge signal for a penalty and send the defender off for an early shower.
Ronaldinho put the ball where it belongs, and pulled the Rossoneri on par with the home side. Eventually, Leonardo’s charges were lucky to make the cut into the next phase of the European competition, as Real Madrid beat Marseille to give the Serie A giants a helping hand.
