Cagliari striker Alessandro Matri has carved his name into history books after scoring in seven consecutive games. The latest goal came last weekend in the 3-3 thriller with Napoli. By doing so, he has matched the record set by club legend and Italian football hero Luigi Riva.
“It’s a great achievement but I am no Gigi Riva he is a legend of Italian football so lets not get carried away” Matri told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Matri came through the ranks at Milan but never earned a spot in the Rossonerri team. After loan spells in the Serie B, he moved to Cagliari in 2007 and is has been a revelation this year at the Stadio Sant’Elia.
The 25-year-old will have a chance to add to his record on Sunday when Cagliari travel to Udine.
