Roma breezed through the last game of the group stage to comfortably finish on top of Group E, thanks to an easy victory over CSKA Sofia.
Alessio Cerci scored on either side of the half-time break to give his side a comfortable two-goal cushion, while 17-year-old Filippo Scardina scored during the death to seal the points, which thereby allowed the Lupi to claim top spot in the group. The teenager had been on the pitch for less than ten minutes before getting his name onto the score sheet.
All in all, coach Claudio Ranieri would likely have given his charges a pat on the back following a convincing victory away from home.
