Inacio Pià is still pinching himself after his brace in Napoli’s UEFA Cup victory last night. “It’s all a dream!”
The young Brazilian was the hero in a 3-0 preliminary round win over Vllaznia in Albania.
“It is a brace that I had dreamed in the days before this match,” grinned the player.
“I am so happy to be a protagonist in Napoli’s European adventure.”
Pià was not expected to get much playing time this season, but with Marcelo Zalayeta still recovering from knee ligament surgery and Ezequiel Lavezzi starring for Argentina in the Olympics, he has taken the reins.
A former Atalanta youth product, he has spent the last two terms shuffled around the country on loan to Treviso and Catania.
“I am happy for him,” said Coach Edy Reja, who gave Pià his big chance. “He is working very hard this year, proving how much he cares about the club.”
German Gustavo Denis scored the other goal in Napoli’s victory that puts one foot firmly in the UEFA Cup.
